Worcestershire, UK
Full-stack developer, twenty years in, currently doing most of that in NetSuite — SuiteScript, integrations, and the unglamorous work of making other people's business systems behave.
What I do
The work splits about three ways. All of it involves being handed something that half-works and being asked why.
SuiteScript, workflows, saved searches, and custom records. Mostly the integration layer — getting NetSuite to talk to systems that were never designed to talk to it, and doing it in a way that survives the next release cycle.
Front to back, Linux underneath. Two decades of shipping means the interesting problems stopped being "can this be built" a long time ago and started being "what does this look like in three years".
Debian, Docker, Prometheus, and a genuine conviction that if you can't see it, it's already broken. Everything below on this page is the practice ground.
The homelab
Eight machines across two countries, a house, and a van, meshed over OpenVPN and watched by Prometheus. It is a hobby the way a allotment is a hobby: mostly maintenance, occasionally something grows.
| Host | Where | Runs |
|---|---|---|
| cloud1 edge | Hetzner | Nginx Proxy Manager, Authelia SSO, OpenVPN hub for the whole mesh. Serving this page. |
| cloud2 | DigitalOcean | Monitoring core and fail2ban. Currently being decommissioned in favour of Prometheus. |
| cloud7 | DigitalOcean | Wazuh — security monitoring and intrusion detection across the fleet. |
| omv home | Worcestershire | OpenMediaVault NAS. Plex, Immich, Frigate CCTV, Nextcloud, and most of the Docker workload. |
| home-services | Worcestershire | Home Assistant on a laptop, because it had a battery and that's a UPS. |
| journey-core van | Wherever we parked | Raspberry Pi. Home Assistant, ESPHome, battery telemetry, and an LTE link home. |
| home-backup | Worcestershire | On-site backup target. The 3-2-1 rule only counts if you actually test the restore. |
